Location
Villa Erato is above the small village on a hillside short before the summit.
From the terraces and verandas, views range northwards to the coast and the Aegean Sea, north-westwards to the peninsulas of Akrotiri and Drapanon, westwards to the White Mountains and south-eastwards to the Ida Mountains.
The surroundings are very peaceful.

The nearest bus stop is 1.2 kms north by the National Road.
Suburban busses connect once per hour to Iraklion (75 kms) and  Hania (67 kms).
Local busses connect to Rethymnon (11 kms, during the tourism season every 30 minutes).
Down there is also a small super market and a taverna.

|
In the neighbouring village of Stavromenos there are another 3 supermarkets, a pharmacy, and a very popular restaurant. All of them are open all-year.
Iraklion airport is 81 kms away, Hania airport 74 kms. With respect to the National Road's winding character, transfer durations from and to the airports must not be underestimated.
